URSA Broadcast is an advanced Ultra HD broadcast camera that works with your existing HD or Ultra HD B4 lenses so you can shoot HD today and switch to Ultra HD when you’re ready! You get professional broadcast controls, built in ND filters, non stop 12-bit recording of ProRes and DNx files to dual SD UHS-IIor CFast cards, and new extended video range for stunning broadcast ready shots that can go straight to air. URSA Broadcast is two cameras in one. Use it for production work or add a Blackmagic URSA Studio Viewfinder to turn it into a live studio camera with remote control and built in color corrector!

URSA Broadcast features a super strong magnesium alloy body that makes it durable enough to use in the most extreme environments. The magnesium alloy also makes it lightweight and helps to keep the camera cool by piping heat into an exchanger that allows convection cooling and heat dissipation from the camera’s body. You get professional connections, an external display,
foldout touch screen and 9 mounting points for adding accessories and building custom rigs.

URSA Broadcast has been designed from the ground up to be comfortable enough to
use all day and small enough to be taken anywhere. The weight is evenly distributed so
the camera is balanced, making it comfortable to use for both handheld and over the
shoulder shooting. The optional shoulder mount kit is designed to help support the camera, making it a natural extension of your body. There’s even a quick release mount that lets
you go from handheld to shoulder to tripod in seconds.

Like most traditional broadcast cameras,
URSA Broadcast puts the most important controls
on the outside of the camera body so you can quickly change settings without having to take your eyes off
the action. All of the control buttons, switches and dials
are grouped logically, making them easy to remember.
That means you’ll be able to operate controls on the camera by feel and without having to look at the buttons or hunt through menus. URSA Broadcast combines the familiar ergonomics of a broadcast camera with incredible image quality in an extremely tough, durable design.

When you’re in the middle of a shoot, you need
to be able to quickly check important shooting and
status information. The status screen on URSA Broadcast features a bright, status display that’s designed to be
easily seen, with or without the backlight on. You can
see timecode, shutter and lens settings, battery, record status and audio levels at a glance. When shooting in a
dimly lit environment, simply turn the backlight on to see
the screen. When you’re outside, the backlight can be turned off for even more contrast, making it highly
visible and crystal clear in broad daylight!

URSA Broadcast features a revolutionary interchangeable lens mount that lets you quickly switch between B4, EF, PL and F mount lenses, making it compatible with the widest possible range of lenses. It comes standard with a B4 lens mount and you can purchase optional EF, PL and F mounts separately. That means you can work with everything from HD or Ultra HD B4 lenses, high quality photographic EF and F mount lenses, and even cinematic PL lenses, all with the same camera!

When it comes to recording, URSA Broadcast has dual
CFast 2.0 recorders and dual SD/UHS-II card recorders,
so you can choose the type of media that works best
for you. CFast and SD/UHS-II cards are ideal for recording full resolution Ultra HD in DNx and ProRes formats, or even as lossless 12-bit RAW files. Regular SD cards, which are inexpensive and commonly available, are perfect for recording high definition video. When a card is full, recording automatically continues onto the next one
so you never have to stop shooting.

URSA Broadcast features Blackmagic OS software designed to make using your camera faster and more intuitive than ever. All important camera functions can be accessed with
a single tap on the heads up display, there’s an elegant digital “slate” that makes direct entry of metadata fast and simple. The heads up display uses simple tap and swipe gestures for recording options, monitoring, audio, camera setup, presets and more. The layout is logical and intuitive, and there are no confusing menus. That makes URSA Broadcast fast to use, so you’ll never waste time or miss a shot while changing settings again!

While URSA Broadcast is designed to include everything you need to start shooting, you can also customize it with genuine Blackmagic accessories that let you build the perfect camera for your production. The optional shoulder mount kit with integrated tripod quick release plate and electronic viewfinder are perfect for ENG style shooting. Plus, there’s a top mount handle that lets you carry the camera from the top, which is great when you need to get shots down low near the ground. You can turn URSA Broadcast into a full blown studio camera with the URSA Studio Viewfinder and URSA Fiber Converter.
There’s an entire family of accessories available, such as interchangeable lens mounts, a mic mount, battery plates, SSD recorder and more, so you’ll be prepared for any type of shoot! However more importantly all accessory connections are standard, so you can also choose from a wide range of third party accessories as well!

Unlike other professional cameras that require custom cables, URSA Broadcast features
industry standard broadcast quality connections so you can use cables you already have!
You get the latest 12G-SDI and separate HD-SDI video outputs along with 12V power for connecting electronic viewfinders. For audio, there are 2 XLR inputs for balanced or digital audio with 48V of switchable phantom power for external microphones. URSA Broadcast also includes
a Hirose 12-pin lens control connector, LANC, a standard 4 pin XLR power connector and URSA battery plate internal power connector that lets you use V-Mount and Gold mount battery plates.

When you’re doing professional work you want to make sure you can securely connect the things you need, like external microphones, large lenses, and more. URSA Broadcast can be customized with standard 3rd party camera accessories including rails and matte boxes so you can build a custom rig that fits your production! There are standard ¼” threaded points positioned over the top and bottom of the camera to make it easy to add the things you need. The optional shoulder mount kit also includes a quick lock tripod mount so you can take your fully rigged URSA Broadcast from the tripod to your shoulder in seconds! Plus, the wide range of mounting points let you mount cameras in locations on set so you can set up for extra sources when live shooting!
